HOME OF THE NANUET  GOLDEN KNIGHTS

Parents, Coaches, Athletes and Community Members:

The next phase of our High School Track will begin on Monday May 22. The project team will begin prepping the surfaces, finishing the top surface system and then striping the track markings. It is critical during this process that our community, teams, and staff stay off the surface at all times for any reason until the project manager releases the high school track for use. In addition, due to the proximity of work, the turf field will be closed until further notice. Ignoring this will significantly compromise the proper completion of the system install and will be considered trespassing. As always, we thank you for your continued cooperation as the high school projects are completed.

Please be aware that our high school building entrances in the front of the building will be closed and the hallways in those areas will be off limits for the entire break.  The construction team will be preparing for the next phase of our bond work in these areas.  The only access will be the doors near the cafeteria and gym hallway. Coaches please limit the access for need only and make sure your team is not using the inside area to wait for practices or rides.  The drop off and pick up area should be near the tennis courts for this period of time only and we request that cars not block the administrative lot at either time. In addition, there will be no practices scheduled for Friday April 7th and all buildings and fields will be closed. Thank you all for your cooperation as we enter this next phase of work for the bond

Do not block the administrative driveway for unloading and pick up.

Be aware that an active construction site still exists on our campus and remain diligent. Do not leave younger children unattended at any time.

The facilities will not open for public use at this time since the project is not fully complete.

  • Coaches- Please consistently check in with athletics regarding your practice areas to avoid issues.
  • Athletes and coaches should not be parking in the visitor section in front of the high school before, during, and especially after school since this space is needed for visitors to the high school who will be meeting consistently after school for the remainder of the year. Coaches- Please revisit this with the athletes who drive on your team.

Thank you Knights!

Sportsmanship:

The New York State Public High School Athletic Association requires officials to enforce all sportsmanship rules for athletes and coaches. The Section One Standards committee supports the NYSPHSAA statement and will not tolerate negative statements or actions between opposing players, especially trash-talking, taunting, or baiting of opponents including racial or discriminatory comments or slurs.

Yellow card/ejection policy: In the event that a player or coach receives two yellow cards in the same game resulting in a red card, the two yellow cards will not count towards the season total since the player/coach receives a 1 game suspension. Section 1 has a more restrictive accumulation policy.

An ejected athlete may attend the next game and sit on the bench but may not be in uniform ○ A forfeited game does not fulfill the prescribed penalty of a game suspension. ○ Schools can be more restrictive and withhold an athlete from attending the game. ○ The penalty must be served during the next regularly scheduled game at the same level. (NYSPHSAA 7/2020)

Athletes are prohibited from using eye black/face paint in any way other than the traditional use of a single line of eye black (one single bar under each eye.)

Spectators may not single out any athlete during a contest. This includes derogatory comments including the use of a player’s name or uniform number. Spectators should recognize that the purpose of interscholastic athletics is to promote competence, civility, character and citizenship and to always remember that an athletic contest is only a game. Spectators should never address officials before, during, or after a contest in a negative fashion. Contests should be a positive learning experience that respects player, coach, official, school personnel, and community.
