At its regularly scheduled January 23 meeting, the Nanuet Union Free School District Board of Education announced the unanimous appointment of Lisa Brady, Ed.D. as Superintendent of Schools through 2027. Dr. Brady has been serving as the District’s Interim Superintendent since August 14, 2023.
“I am honored to be appointed as the permanent superintendent for Nanuet Public Schools,” said Dr. Brady following Tuesday night’s meeting. “In my short tenure as the interim superintendent, I have been impressed by the heart and character of this wonderful community. I am grateful for the warm welcome that has been extended to me by the Board of Education and the staff and students in the District. I look forward to this opportunity.”
A veteran educator for over 35 years, Dr. Brady has served as Superintendent of Schools in several districts, including Westchester County's Dobbs Ferry, Hunterdon Central Regional High School and the South Hunterdon Regional High School in New Jersey. During her tenure in Dobbs Ferry, Dr. Brady successfully led the accreditation process for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Program (MYP) for grades 6-10 to connect with the District’s IB Diploma Program. A recipient of the Lower Hudson Regional Information Center Pioneer Award in 2012 for Technology Innovation, Dr. Brady was selected as a presenter at the New York State School Boards Association Conference in 2012, the National School Boards Association Conference in 2014 and the BrightBytes Technology Symposium in 2013.
Board of Education President Christine Camillieri says the Board is “pleased and honored” to make this appointment.
“While serving as Interim Superintendent, Dr. Brady has shown exceptional leadership, dedication and a deep understanding of our district’s needs,” said Camillieri. “Dr. Brady brings with her a wealth of knowledge and vast experience, along with an innovative and visionary approach, which will help Nanuet thrive in the future. We look forward to seeing Nanuet schools grow and succeed under her guidance.”

Dear Nanuet Parents and Community,
Full funding for our schools is an important and necessary step to ensure that all of our students have what they need each day to be successful. Currently, New York State is planning to cut our foundation aid in Nanuet by $283,799. This is especially frustrating because Nanuet lobbied hard for many years on behalf of restoring full foundation to our District, only to have this aid pulled back quickly and with no prior indication that this would be the case. Unreasonable expectations related to electric buses, inadequate funding for Universal Pre-K and a sudden focus on reading curriculum are examples of how New York State decisions impact our local schools.
