FEES: Fees are listed with all course descriptions. Nanuet School District residents, over 60 years of age, may enroll free in some Adult Education courses, such as aerobics and drawing classes, but are required to pay material and textbook fees. Before enrolling, Nanuet senior citizens must first obtain a Gold Card at the School Administrative District Office, which is located in the High School.
NO RECEIPTS ARE MAILED: We will notify you if you cannot be admitted to a class or if the class is being canceled. In the event you cannot be admitted, your check will be returned or full refund given. PLEASE ASSUME THAT YOU HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED IN YOUR SELECTED COURSE AND THAT THE COURSE WILL BE CONDUCTED UNLESS YOU RECEIVE NOTIFICATION TO THE CONTRARY.
Registrations are not transferable.
Refunds, due to OUR cancellation, will be made 3 to 4 weeks following the beginning of classes. This time is needed to complete processing by the school district business offices. ABSOLUTELY NO FEES WILL BE REFUNDED UNLESS WE CANCEL A COURSE.
There is no provision for a partial refund for taking one session or part of a course. An administrative fee of $10.00 will be deducted from your letter of credit for any OTHER refunds we approve.

*INCLEMENT WEATHER/EMERGENCY CLOSINGS: Whenever the Nanuet Public Schools are closed, the Community Education Program does not convene. If weather becomes hazardous and/or it is necessary to cancel classes, every attempt will be made to announce cancellations on www.cancellations.com or our recorded announcement on 845-627-9860. In the event of school closings, classes are extended another week.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Middle Eastern/Mediterranean Cooking – HANDS ON LEARNING – L. Bichara
(Fee: $55.00) - SORRY THIS CLASS IS FULL and we are not accepting any more registrations.
Arrive with an appetite as you will be eating what is on the menu each week during class time. You will create authentic, hearty Middle Eastern and Mediterranean dishes that satisfy the soul. Using fresh ingredients and spices native to the regions of Greece, Syria, Lebanon, Israel and Egypt, a variety of dishes such as meat pie, spinach pie, kofta and stuffed grape leaves will be prepared. Perhaps, a soup or two will also be on the menu. Desserts will include baklava, banana walnut cake and basboussa. A material fee of $60.00 is due on the first night of class payable directly to the instructor. Class is limited to 15 students.

Whether your goal is to improve your physical and mental health or to simply add an exercise routine, our beginner Tai Chi can help you to achieve this! Tai Chi is well known to reduce the harmful effects of stress, relieve chronic pain and to help you build greater balance, energy and power. Our instructor has over two decades of experience in teaching martial arts and specializes in Resilience Training.

Volleyball – Experienced (Non-Beginner Play … No Exceptions) – M. Feinman (Fee: $37.00) - CANCELED due to lack of interest
Please join if you have mastered the fundamentals of the game. You should be capable of bumping, setting, spiking and serving consistently. Players will engage in competitive play with other players experienced in organized play following standard game rules. Players should exhibit a higher level of group play. This class is not suited for beginner players. You must be 18 years of age or older – NO EXCEPTIONS.

Retirement Planning Workshop – L. Rosenwasser (Fee: $16.00) - CANCELED due to lack of interest
This fast-paced seminar is taught by a CFP and former college professor, with over 40 years of retirement planning experience. The class is best suited for those within 10 years of retirement or recently retired. We will be addressing common questions such as: Do I have enough money to retire? Should I retire or continue working? When I retire, should I relocate or stay where I am? When should I begin taking Social Security? Register with a friend or spouse and the second enrollee fee is $10.00.

Knitting for Beginners – P. Dudek (Fee: $38.00) - SORRY THIS CLASS IS FULL and we are not accepting any more registrations.
Knitting is an age-old art which is both relaxing and rewarding! Take advantage of this unique opportunity to learn the basics and more, and go from novice to knitter! We boast a small class environment and no prior experience is required! Learn how to cast on, the knit and purl stitches, and how to combine them. Our experienced instructor will show you how to create basic patterns (such as stockinette, seed and rib), “cast off” and “weave in” your ends to create a complete knitted project! Bring: one ball of worsted-weight light color yarn, set of straight knitting needles size 8 and a tapestry needle (for weaving in ends). Class size is limited to 8 students.

Watercolor for Beginners – J. Elliott (Fee: $32.00) - CANCELED due to lack of interest
Start your journey into the dynamic world of watercolor just by signing up. You'll learn and practice all the basics including wet and dry paint techniques, color mixing, how to produce flat and graded washes, and all about what your brush can do.
Instruction will be geared to producing at least one finished painting by end of term. Some previous drawing experience is a plus. All materials will be provided-$15 materials fee directly to instructor. Important information is covered in the first class so attendance is a must. Class size is limited to 12 students.

We will explore films, books, articles and a multitude of conversation-stimulating tools and will open discussion on how to attain the life we are seeking! We are unable to hold our Drivers' Education classes at this time as we have not been able to locate a DMV-certified Drivers' Education Instructor.
